The Iraqi Army had recaptured the cities and towns of Al Dhuluiya, Al Ishaqi and Al-Mutasim with the support of local tribal forces.

Tikrit (IraqiNews.com) The governor of Saladin Province claimed that the Iraq Army has recaptured several cities and towns after they were seized by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists.

Governor Amhed Abdullah Abid Kalaf said in a statement released to IraqiNews.com that the army had retaken the cities and towns of Al Dhuluiya, Al Ishaqi and Al-Mutasim.

He said the areas were retaken after government forces made agreements with local tribes for their armed support.

Although this is yet to be verified by independent sources, the Al Ishaqi police headquarters stated that they had killed 9 terrorists in a raid on vehicles belonging to the ISIL. 21 gunmen had also been injured while many of their vehicles were burned.

Clashes between the ISIL and the army continue after the former made gains in Nineveh, Saladin and Tikrit following the capture of Iraq’s second biggest city Mosul.
