Iraqi forces arrest ISIS mufti, destroy 9 ISIS shelters in Baghdad, says Operations Command

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Monday, Baghdad Operations Command announced it arrested the so-called ISIS-mufti of Welayat Baghdad in an operation, which resulted in destroying 9 ISIS shelters.

In a statement obtained by IraqiNews, Baghdad Operations Command said, “A force from the 54th Brigade managed to arrest the ISIS mufti in Baghdad in al-Mansour district. Iraqi forces have removed 65 explosives in western Baghdad and destroyed 3 ISIS shelters in albu-Haswa and al-Ga’ara in southern Baghdad.”

The statement added, “Iraqi warplanes offered aerial support in the operation, targeting 6 ISIS shelters and destroying an armored vehicle, killing everyone in it as well as arresting a number of the group’s militants around Baghdad.”
