Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants reportedly executed seven civilians in eastern Mosul on Saturday for refusing to hand over their residence to group militants.

AlRassid news website quoted sources in the city as saying that the group wanted to use their home as combat locations against Iraqi troops advancing towards the city

The dead bodies of the victims disappeared and were not handed over to their relatives, the sources added.

Since taking over Mosul and several other Iraqi cities in 2014, ISIS has been notorious for heinous executions of civilians for either failing to comply with their extremist religious views or collaborating with security authorities.

Several mass graves have been discovered as Iraqi forces cleared several villages around the city center since October, when the government announced the launch of operations to retake the city.
