ISIS prepares to attack al-Amiriyat, Fallujah says head of local council

Al-Anbar (IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, the head of al-Amiriyat council, Shaker Mahmoud, stated that ISIS is gathering militants to advance towards the area with heavy weapons and mortars.

Mahmoud informed IraqiNews.com “ISIS militants are gathering in al-Hasa and al-Razaza lake near al-Amiriyat, 23 km south of Fallujah. The militants are carrying heavy weapons and preparing for an offensive operation against al-Amiriyat.”

He said, “We did receive reinforcements consisting of weapons, gear and ammunition, which the central government has ordered to support police forces and volunteer fighters in the city, however, the situation inside al-Amiriyat is dire.”

Mahmoud also asked the government to send emergency and humanitarian aid for thousands of displaced families.
