John Kerry: Air war could take years to defeat ISIS

(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said it could take years to defeat ISIS in an air campaign, adding that the coalition has carried out over 1000 air strikes against ISIS since the air campaign began.

In his meeting with delegations and foreign ministers from 60 nations to discuss efforts to fight the militant group that took over large expanses of territories in northern and western Iraq and eastern Syria, Kerry said, “One outcome of this meeting will be a statement that encompasses our message—that we are united and moving ahead on all fronts and that we will engage in this campaign for as long as it takes to prevail.”

Kerry has also noted, that the US-led international coalition so far has carried out more than 1000 air strikes on ISIS shelters and facilities in Iraq and Syria since the air campaign began last August.
