 Kurdish force frees Swedish girl from ISIS near Mosul, says Kurdistan Security Council

(IraqiNews.com) Kurdistan – The Security Council of Kurdistan Region announced on Tuesday, that a special Kurdish force had managed to free a Swedish girl from ISIS, while pointed out that the operation was carried out at the request of the Swedish government.

The council said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “A special anti-terrorism force in Kurdistan carried out, in February 17, an operation in an area controlled by ISIS near Mosul,” noting that, “The operation resulted in freeing a Swedish girl from ISIS.”

The statement added, “One of the [ISIS] elements tricked the Swedish girl Marilyn Stephane Nniferlaan, a 16-year-old who was taken to Syria and then to the city of Mosul in the middle of last year,” pointing out that, “The girl’s family and the Swedish Government asked help from the Security Council of Kurdistan Region to rescue her,” asserting that, “The Swedish girl is currently located in the Kurdistan region.”
