Maliki cancels his visit to Halabja owing demonstrations

(IraqiNews.com) SULAYMANIYAH – Member of Kurdistan Democratic Party Fadel Besharati confirmed on Tuesday that President of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki has decided to cancel his visit to Halabja after being informed about demonstrations against him at the entrance to the city.
Besharati in an interview with Iraqi News, said, “A group of civilians, journalists and activists gathered at the entrance of Halabja and expressed their resentment to Maliki’s visit,” adding “Maliki realized that he will face more embarrassment and hence he canceled the visit.”
