(Iraqinews.com) Peshmerga forces of Kurdistan province found a mass grave in Mount Sinjar, containing the remains of 70 Kurds and Yazidis, who were martyred at the hands of the Islamic State militants.

According to informed sources, the Peshmerga forces found pieces of clothes worn by Kurds and Yazidis in the area, as well as the traces of blood and gunshots. Digging was stopped and we are now waiting for the medical teams to do their work.

Colonel of  Peshmerga forces, Marwan Abed said to IraqiNews.com, “We arrived 3 days ago. Some people in the Mount Sinjar told us that their parents were executed here. We marked the area until the victims’ families had arrived to identify the bodies and the civil society organizations to investigate the matter.”

Abed added, “We informed all parties that we found the cemetery and demanded it to be photographed for people to see with their own eyes the massacre that took place here.”
