(IraqiNews.com) A security source in Salahuddin announced on Wednesday, that the security forces have launched a military operation to liberate al-Alam district and Albu-Ajil village east of Tikrit.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The security forces backed by the Volunteer Fighters (al-Hashd al-Sha’bi) forces launched today a military operation to liberate al-Alam district and Albu-Ajil village east of Tikrit,” noting that, “The operation involves surrounding these areas from all directions.”

The source, who requested to be anonymous, added, “A security force has cut the road of al-Fatha Bridge north of Baiji, while the troops stationed in the center of Samarra have cut the desert road in Dour district (25 km south-east of Tikrit), which leads to Albu-Ajil village (East Tikrit).”

The source stated, “The aim is to deprive ISIS of all supplies and exits in Albu-Ajil for the security forces to be able to surround it and storm it later on.”
