A Peshmerga brigade commander killed by ISIS sniper southwest of Kirkuk

(IraqiNews.com) on Saturday, a security source in Kirkuk announced that a brigade commander in the Kurdish Peshmerga forces was killed by a sniper while in operations to liberate villages southwest of the province.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “A commander of a brigade in the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, Major General Mansour Hussein was killed this afternoon in al-Azifr village in Tel Ward area, during liberating the southwestern regions of Kirkuk from ISIS,” noting that, “Major General Hussein was killed by a sniper during his participation in the operations. ”

The source, who asked for anonymity, added, “A force in the Peshmerga transferred his body to the Forensic Medicine Authority prior to his formal burial ceremony in Kirkuk.”
