(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – A security source in Kirkuk province said on Friday, that the paramilitary Kurdish Peshmerga force received tens of civilians escaping from the ISIS-controlled areas in Hawija north of the province.

The source, who requested anonymity, said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “Today, Peshmerga forces received more than 130 people, mostly women, children and elders, escaping from the district of Hawija (55 km southwest of Kirkuk),” indicating that, “The district had been seized by ISIS.”

The source added, “The Peshmerga received them at the axis of Debs (45 km northwest of Kirkuk),” pointing out that, “The Peshmerga is receiving many [persons] fleeing from the ISIS-controlled areas.”
