Sadr Trend MP survives assassination in Baghdad [06/03/2013]

Baghdad -The leading figure within the Sadr Trend, Hazim al-Araji survived on Monday an assassination attempt through silenced handgun in Kadhimiya town of northern Baghdad.

Source close to Araji said “Araji survived assassination by silenced guns while he was monitoring the Husseinian processions erected in Kadhimiya city where the attack resulted in killing one of his companions, Dhirgam Abu Ali.”

“Araji directly accused the League of Righteous of attempting to assassinate him, stressing “The assassination attempt was facilitated by the security forces that are present at the incident spot, headed by the Maj. Gen. Shakir al-Asadi, commander of the 2nd Division of the federal police,” according to the source.
