Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) A police officer revealed on Thursday, that 27 civilians were either killed or wounded by a shelling carried out by the Islamic State group on the areas of al-Yarmouk and Mosul al-Jadida in western Mosul.
Captain Amir Wathiq said in a press statement that 14 civilians were killed and 13 others were severely wounded by a shelling conducted by the Islamic State on the recently liberated areas of al-Yarmouk and Mosul al-Jadida in western Mosul.
The Islamic State shelled the two areas with five Katyusha rockets, Wathiq added. The terrorist group is trying to punish the civilians, after losing 70% of the areas in western Mosul.
Wathiq also pointed out that security forces transferred the wounded to nearby hospitals, and bodies to the forensic medicine department.
