(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – A security source in Diyala Province announced on Thursday, that six people had been either killed or wounded by mortar shells in the city of Baqubah (55 km northeast of Baghdad).

The source said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “This morning three mortar shells fell near elementary schools in Katoon Razi area in western Baqubah, wounding three people.”

The source, who asked anonimity, added, “Two mortar shells fell near farms in al-Sawamra area in central Baqubah, killing one person and wounding two others.”

The source continued, “A security force rushed to the incident areas and transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment and the dead body to the forensic medicine department. “
