Source: Sumaidae still alive

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Security source denied the reports over “The death of the Secretary General of the Sunni Fatwa Commission, Mahdi al-Sumaidyae” assuring that “He suffered severe injuries when his motorcade was attacked by a car bomb on Sunday morning in western Baghdad.”

The source mentioned to IraqiNews.com ”Some media outlets reported the death of Sumaidae which is groundless reports since he is still alive lying in the hospital,” noting that “Sumaidae underwent a surgery due to his injury in his head and belly.”

The Secretary General of the Sunni Fatwa Commission, Mahdi al-Sumaidae, and four of his bodyguards were injured while a civilian was killed when a car bomb exploded targeting his motorcade in Yarmouk area where he was conducting the prayers of Eid al-Fitr.
