 Spain sends 30 Portuguese soldiers to back its troops in Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) The Spanish army announced on Thursday strengthening its troops stationed in Iraq by 30 Portuguese soldiers, in coordination between the two European neighbors.

The Spanish army said in a statement released on its website, “30 Portuguese soldiers, led by Manuel Lorenzo, with experience in international military missions, will make up a group in the Spanish forces that enhance training and operational logistics, service and health tasks,” adding that, “The aim of this step is to support Spanish troops in Basmaiyah base south of Baghdad.”
