Sukhoi warplanes bomb ISIS gatherings for the first time south of Tikrit

(IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, a security source in Salahuddin province stated that, Sukhoi fighter jets started bombing the gatherings of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) southern of Tikrit, while noting that the elements of the organization began to escape.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Today ,Russian Sukhoi fighter jets, operated by Iraqi pilots, began bombing the gatherings of ISIS in the area of Yathrib, (80 km south of Tikrit),” noting that,”Those Sukhois are considered the first over areas south of Tikrit.”

The source, who asked not to be named, added, “Elements of ISIS began to flee the area.”
