Tigris Operations: Car used in Karrada bombing equipped with explosives near Baghdad

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – Tigris Operations Command announced that the the explosion at Karrada area in central Baghdad on July 3 was carried out by a vehicle that originated its journey from Diyala. The vehicle, a normal one at the beginning, was equipped with explosives near the explosion site.
The commander of Tigris Operations Major General Mazhar al-Azzawi in a press statement, said, “The vehicle that exploded in Karrada area was equipped with explosives in Baghdad near the explosion area as the vehicle was searched in Diyala province and then it was not found to be booby-trapped.”
Azzawi added, “The vehicle was searched for seven minutes using sonar devices and K9 and the manual inspection and investigations have proved that the vehicle left Diyala without being equipped with any explosives.”
