(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – The commander of the Tigris Operations Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir al-Zaidi announced on Monday the foiling of an ISIS attack on Alas and Ajil oil fields east of Salahuddin province, pointing out to the killing of 11 members of the organization and the destruction of their vehicle.

Zaidi said in an interview to IraqiNews.com: “The formations of Tigris operations supported by al-Hashed al-Sha’bi militia foiled today ISIS attack on Alas and Ajil oilfields east of Salah al-Din.”

Zaidi added, “The security forces and al-Hashed al-Sha’bi militia managed to kill 11 militants and destroyed a vehicle carrying a unilateral weapon,” stressing that, “the situation is under control and security services are chasing ISIS remnants in the nearby valleys.”

The Alas and Ajil oil fields are the most important oil fields in Salah al-Din and see from time to time ISIS attacks for the purpose of their occupation again.
