(IraqiNews.com) ANBAR – Al Amaq, a news website affiliated to ISIS, confirmed on Wednesday that one of its prominent leaders Abu Omar al-Shishani was killed in combat in Shirgat district, south of Mosul. Deceased Shishani was among one of the most wanted men according to a US program and he carried a bounty of $5 million on his head.

The website, in its revelation on Wednesday, confirmed that that Shishani was killed while fighting to defend southern Mosul areas in Shirgat district, northern Iraq. Even though the website did not specify as when was Shishani killed, but his loss is considered to be a big loss for ISIS.

It is worth mentioning here that the terror organization in 2016 has suffered some major setbacks in Iraq and Shishani’s death is considered to be one of these.

It may be mentioned here that earlier in March this year the Pentagon had said that Shishani was likely killed in a US airstrike in Syria and said that his death would possibly hamper ISIS’ operations in the region including Iraq, Syria and others.
