(IraqiNews.com) On Friday, Turkish official revealed that the Turkish troops will launch a special program to train Kurdish Peshmerga forces to confront the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The newspaper ‘Hurriyet Daily News’ quoted the official, “Turkey has already taken steps to start a program to train Kurdish forces in northern Iraq for a month.”

The official added, “The program comes as an attempt to unify efforts in fighting ISIS,” pointing out that the Turkish special forces, known as the ‘Maronite Hats’ will take on that task.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu arrived, earlier on Friday, in the province of Erbil in Kurdistan and met a number of Kurdish officials, led by the region’s president, Massoud Barzani.
