(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source within the police force in Baghdad said Monday, that 5 civilians have been killed and two others were hurt in two bomb blasts in southern Baghdad.

The source told IraqiNews.com, “This afternoon, two improvised explosive devices that were emplaced near a food shop has went off in the village of Mahirejah in the district of Rashid,” noting that, “The explosion resulted in killing 5 civilians and wounding two others in the area.”

“Security forces have cordoned off the area of the explosion and prevented people from approaching it, while ambulances transferred the injured to a near hospital for medical treatment and the dead to the Forensic Medicine Authority,” the source also added.

The district of al-Rashid is located in southern Baghdad.
