(IraqiNews.com) American officials said on Saturday, that the United States is planning to send B-52 Stratofortress to target ISIS sites in Iraq and Syria, asserting that the giant bombers will replace the B-1 aircraft, which withdrew during the last month for maintenance and modernization.

The officials said in a press statement published by the U.S. military news site Air Force Times and followed by IraqiNews.com, “The United States will deploy giant B- 52 Stratofortress in the region to target ISIS in Iraq and Syria,” stressing that, “The [B-52] aircraft will replace the B-1 bombers which had been withdrawn by the U.S. Air Force.”

Noteworthy the B- 52 bombers, which are capable of carrying missiles with nuclear warheads, can carry ammunition weighing 70,000 pounds and fly more than 900 mph.
