(IraqiNews.com) According to a report issued by the American Department of Defense (Pentagon), the first fatality of an American soldier involved in an American military mission against the so-called the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which began two months ago.

The American soldier was killed after jumping from a military plane in the waters of the Gulf, while the captain of the plane managed to land safely, according to the Pentagon.

The Marine soldier had been assumed to be lost in the sea after jumping from the plane Osprey, which is designed to transport soldiers over the waters of the Gulf, when the plane was about to crash.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a press briefing that “another soldier, who also jumped from the plane, was saved as the pilot managed to regain control and landed safely.”
