URGENT: France launches its first air strikes against ISIS in Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) On Friday French warplanes directed their first air strikes against ISIS, the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

France 2 TV Channel said in flash news followed by IraqiNews.com that “The French Air Force launched its first round of air strikes against ISIS in Iraq,” indicating that “the bombing resulted in the destruction of ammunition stores belonging to ISIS in north-eastern Iraq.

Elysee Palace announced in a statement seen by IraqiNews.com  that “on Friday morning the French Air Force started its first strikes against the positions of the Islamic state,” and that “the French Air Force will implement other operations in the coming days.”

France 2 TV Channel reported that “at least two Rafale fighter jets carried out the operation before returning to the French base in the UAE.”

French President Francois Hollande announced yesterday , at a press conference, that he had gaven the green light for French troops to hit the organization ISIS, stressing that the operation will be limited to Iraq.
