URGENT: French Air Force carries out first reconnaissance mission in Iraq today

(IraqiNews.com) France announced that its Air Force would begin its first reconnaissance missions over Iraq on Monday.

The Reuters news agency quoted the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius as saying, ahead of the Paris conference to discuss how to cooperate in the fight against the militants of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, that “on Monday the French aircraft will begin the first reconnaissance mission over the Iraqi territories.”

Fabius added, “We told the Iraqis that we are ready; we asked them permission to fly over Iraqi airspace.”
