(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, an officer within the Anbar police leadership confirmed that the organization of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) launched a massive offensive from all directions and axes on the city of Ramadi. He claimed that the organization is now besieging the downtown governmental compound, and denied the arrival of any military reinforcements to Ramadi.

Colonel Hamid Chanduch said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Elements of the terrorist organization ISIS launched an attack from all sides and axes on the cities of Ramadi today,” noting that the organization besieged a governmental compound downtown.

Chanduch also denied the arrival of any military reinforcements to the army, the police and the tribesmen stationed in Ramadi, pointing out that “3 weeks ago, Anbar police called the government for military reinforcements to repel any assault on the city, but it did not respond.”
