(IraqiNews.com) High-level American official said on Wednesday that the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) intends to send “about three hundred” American troops to Iraq to provide security at the request of the US State Department, according to the news agency AFP.

Reuters news agency quoted on an anonymous American official who said that the request, which may include sending less than three hundred individual, has not been approved yet. These forces will join more than eight hundred troops sent by Washington to Iraq since the takeover of the organization of the Islamic state in Iraq and the Levant on the northern regions of Iraq last June.

An official at the American military has vowed to intensify the raids, despite that ISIL beheaded an American journalist and threatened to execute another in retaliation for American air strikes. Also, the Republican Senator John McCain called for a substantial increase of American air strikes against the targets of the organization of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
