 Washington denies bombing Iraqi forces in Tikrit

(IraqiNews.com) The United States has disclaimed reports about bombing the Iraqi forces in Tikrit, while confirmed that all the international coalition’s air strikes were in coordination with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.

The US embassy in Baghdad said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Iraqi media reports talked about casualties among Iraqi security forces in the area around Tikrit University yesterday morning,” indicating that, “No air strikes were launched by the coalition during the time when the alleged casualties took place.”

The embassy added, “You can connect with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense for more information about these reports…All the coalition’s air strikes take place at the request of the Iraqi government and full coordination with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.”

It is notwrthy that a number of media reports said on March 27th that the US-led international coalition had bombed military posts in Tikrit.
