Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Service has declared troops advance in al-Tanak and al-Thawra districts, located in Western Mosul.

“The counter-terrorism forces resume their advance in al-Tanak and al-Thawra districts after liberating huge parts of them,” the forces commander, Abdel Wahab al-Saedi, told Al-Ghad Press on Tuesday. “The safe passageways are still available to allow civilians flee to other districts.”

“Islamic State militants are in low spirits due to the shortage in weapon and supply,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dijlah TV website quoted a source as saying that the troops killed 43 IS members in al-Thawra district, adding that the troops started raiding Mesherfa district, in southwest of Mosul, and are fighting the militants at al-Farouq district.

On Monday, the Iraqi Military Intelligence said the U.S.-led coalition jets killed IS drone experts in an airstrike that destroyed their unmanned planes factory in Western Mosul.

Iraqi forces, backed by the international coalition jets launch airstrikes against IS headquarters located in the western flank of Mosul on a daily basis leaving members killed and havens destroyed.

Earlier this month, the Joint Operations Command said IS militants were only in control over 6.8 percent of territory of Iraq and that government troops were controlling 60 percent of the western side of Mosul.
