Arab Basketball championship in Dohouk postponed
Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Basketball Association confirmed postponing the Arab Championship for basketball which was supposed to be held in Dohuk province on September.
The official spokesperson of the Iraqi Basketball Association, Ihsan al-Marsumi, reported to IraqiNews.com that ”The Iraqi Association decided to postpone the championship for 45 days because it coincides with other championships in which the invited teams to participate in the Arab Basketball championship are involved.”
He added that ”Only five Arab countries approved to participate in the Arab Basketball Championship so it has been postponed to provide another chance for the Arab teams to get wider participation in the Arab Championship,” noting that “The IBA intends to conduct the championship with participation of Eight Arab teams at least.”
Dohuk province has previously hosted many championships of west Asian basketball clubs and teams. \
