(IraqiNews.com) Manama – The Iraqi Football Federation revealed on Sunday that Bahraini authorities prevented the head of the Iraqi soccer team delegation Bassam Raouf from entering Bahrain to participate in the Asian Championship, noting that Rauf was detained for 13 hours and then returned to Baghdad.

The member of the Football Federation Kamil Zughair said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The Bahraini authorities prevented the head of the soccer team delegation, Bassam Raouf from entering Bahrain to participate in the Asian Championship.

Zughair added, “Bahraini authorities have detained Rauf for 13 hours without disclosing the reasons,” noting that “Rauf returned to Baghdad after failed attempts to persuade the authorities to allow him to enter with the team.”

Zughair continued that, “Iraqi Football Federation will ask his Bahraini counterpart to know the reasons of preventing the entry of the head of delegation.”
