(IraqiNews.com) Barcelona – The Turkish news agency “Anatolia” quoted the Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez as saying that, “no less than 115 Spanish citizens left the country since the beginning of 2015 until now to join the terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria.”

Fernandez explained that “14 people of the total of 115 were deported to Spain, nine of them sit in prison, while five others were released,” pointing out that “Spanish authorities arrested 44 people suspected of ties to terrorist groups, during the first four months of this year.”

Fernandez stated that “Spain wants to be a leader in the field of combating terrorism and fulfill its responsibilities at the national and international levels.”

It is noteworthy that the Spanish security forces arrested at least 556 people since 2004 up to now in 122 operations to combat “terrorism” in the country.
