(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Monday, the Turkish Interior Ministry confirmed that the outcome of the explosion, which occurred in the southeastern town of Suruc near Turkey’s border with Syria, amounted to 27 dead and about 100 injured, describing the blast as a “terrorist act.”

The ministry said in a statement posted by “Reuters” and followed by IraqiNews.com, “An explosion at a cultural centre in the southeastern town of Suruc near Turkey’s border with Syria resulted in the killing of 27 people and injuring about 100.”

There are concerns that the death toll could rise, the Interior Ministry said in the statement.

The Turkish Interior Ministry described the explosion as “a terrorist act” and called on everyone to “unite and remain calm in the face of this terrorist act which targeted the country’s unity.”
