(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that 40 per cent of the Iraqi territory is under direct occupation, pointing out that Turkey’s position will not change as long as its recommendations to the international coalition against the so-called the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are not attained.

Anatolia news agency quoted Erdogan, “ Coalition forces have not taken any step of those we recommended, and there are a lot of possibilities ahead of us. If our recommendations are not achieved, the Turkish position will not change.”

He added, “Today, 40 % of Iraqi territory are under the direct occupation. Therefore, the international coalition has to announce a safe zone in Iraq, adopt a training method and arm the internal forces in order to achieve security and stability in the international community.” He also praised the progress made by the central government forces in Iraq from several axes.
