(IraqinNews.com) Baghdad – The French government announced on Thursday sending the aircraft carrier (Charles de Gaulle) to strengthen its military operations in Iraq and Syria, indicating that the decision came after a meeting of officials of the Ministry of Defense.

The French Presidency said in a statement followed by IraqinNews.com “We will deploy the aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” to participate in military operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria,” asserting that “This decision came after a meeting of the officials of the Ministry of Defense.”

The statement added that “Paris supports a political transition in Syria, but Bashar al-Assad cannot be a part of it in the future.”

Noteworthy, France has begun to launch air strikes against ISIS militants in Syria during the month of October, after a year of bombing ISIS sites in Iraq.
