(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Iranian Security Minister Mahmoud Alavi announced on Tuesday the arrest of more than 20 “terrorists” while attempting to cross the Iranian border into Iraq and Syria.

Alawi said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com: “the terrorist movements are more active in the months of Muharram and Safar in order to carry out attacks against al-Husseini conveys.”

Alavi added, “the terrorist networks have been eliminated,” pointing out to “the arrest of 10 terrorist elements in Golestan, Mazandaran, Sistan and Baluchistan.”

Alavi stressed that “More than 20 terrorist members also have been arrested on the Iranian border; they were planning to go to Iraq and Syria.”
