(Iraqinews.com) Baghdadi – Former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani announced, that an Iranian committee is considering potential candidates for the position of the Supreme Leader, which represents a breach of a taboo to talk openly about the succession of this position.

The Iranian news agency ILNA quoted on Sunday Rafsanjani as saying: “The Assembly of Experts will move when there is a need to appoint a new leader. They are preparing to do so now and studying the options.”

Rafsanjani added in a public statement, “They appointed a group to prepare a list of the qualified candidates to vote on it when something happens.”

Noteworthy the Assembly of Experts consists of 82 members in charge of the selection of the Supreme Leader and even ruling him out. The people elect the Assembly of Experts almost every ten years.
