(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Afghanistan Ambassador to Pakistan, Omar Zakhilwal announced that Hafiz Saeed Khan- ISIS leader in Afghanistan and Pakistan- died in US drone airstrike in eastern Afghanistan.

Quoting Zakhilwal Reuters reported, “I assure that Hafiz Saeed Khan, ISIS leader of  Khorasan was killed along with several top leaders and fighters in an airstrike carried out by US drones on July 26 in Nangarhar, Afghanistan.”

Pentagon deputy press secretary Gordon Trowbridge said that the strike came while US and Afghan special operations forces carried out counter-ISIS operations in southern Nangarhar province throughout July.

“During this time, US forces conducted an airstrike targeting Hafiz Saeed Khan, the Islamic State in the Levant-Khorasan emir, in Achin district, Nangarhar province on July 26, resulting in his death,” Trowbridge said.

“Saeed was known to directly participate in attacks against US and coalition forces, and the actions of his network terrorized Afghans, especially in Nangarhar,” he added.
