Homs (Syria News) The self-proclaimed Islamic State launched, on Saturday, an attack on the Syrian army headquarters, in the Syrian Badiyah, and approached the city of Palmyra, Qasioun News reported.

Qasioun News revealed that the Islamic State militants attacked the Syrian army forces, near the Syrian Badiyah, while pointed out that the militant group is now only 40 kilometers away from the city of Palmyra, after capturing the T3 airbase, in the eastern countryside of Homs.

The Islamic State militants captured Sukhna city, after advancing toward Tantor Mountain, in the eastern countryside of Homs.

Moreover, the Islamic State announced killing dozens of the regime soldiers and their allied militias in the recent offensive, in which the militant group was able to cut Deir Ezzor-Palmyra road.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian army forces, backed up by Russian warplanes, managed to recapture the city of Palmyra last March, in their attempt to continue the assault to recapture the city of Sukhna.
