(IraqiNews.com) A massive explosion hit Kizilay District in the Turkish capital Ankara, killing at least 27 people and wounding 75 others.

A booby-trapped vehicle exploded near a transport hub and many administrative buildings, including the ministries of justice and interior, a court, as well as a police station.

“Gunfire was also heard after the blast, while ambulances rushed to the area,” officials said.

Medical sources said, “The wounded were transferred to 10 different hospitals around the city, with a dozen in a very serious condition.”

A senior security official said in a press statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “Initial findings suggested the attack had been carried out by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) or an affiliated militant group, but there was no immediate claim of responsibility.”
