(IraqiNews.com) Erbil – Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)’s armed winged has claimed responsibility for Thursday’s car bomb attack on a police station in Turkey located at the southeastern Kurdish city of Elazig.

In a statement, PKK’s armed wing, said, “The attack was in retaliation to the Turkish military operations against PKK members at Lice district in Diyarbakir province. It was also a response to the imprisonment of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.”

It is worth mentioning here that early on Thursday morning a local police station in Turkey was attacked with a car bomb, in which 11 persons were killed and over 200 others (including civilians) were injured.

However, PKK’s armed wing’s statement claims the death toll to be higher than it has been reported. The statement claims that 150 policemen were killed and 155 others were injured in the attack.
