Russia officially announces the start of air strikes against ISIS in Syria

( Baghdad – The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday, that the Russian Air Forces has started the implementation of air strikes against ISIS in Syria.

Ministry spokesman Gen. Igor Konashenkov said in a statement carried by the Russian agency Sputnik: “aircraft belonging to the Russian Air Forces began to direct air strikes on ISIS sites in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, according to the decision of President Vladimir Putin, Supreme Commander of the Russian Armed Forces.”

“Russian aircraft launched air strikes against ISIS, communication centers, and warehouses containing arms and ammunition,” the ministry spokesman added.
