(Syria News) Four people were killed in a  suicide attack at a checkpoint in a Kurdish-controlled area of northeastern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Tuesday.

A Kurdish official told the observatory that a suicide car bomb attack targeted a checkpoint belonging to the Asayish (Kurdish internal security forces), without giving any further details.

The Director of the observatory, Mr. Ramy Abdulrahman said that the attack took place near Tal Tamr Village, located 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, Meanwhile, Syrian state TV reported that four persons were killed in a car bomb attack in the area, but said it had taken place in the nearby town of Ras al-Ayn.

It is noteworthy that the area located northeastern of Syria is dominated by the Kurdish YPG militia, which is preparing an offensive to recapture the city of Raqqa from Islamic State radical group.
