Syrian Army approaches ISIS-controlled Raqqa, says SOHR

(IraqiNews.com) The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on Saturday, that the Syrian forces are preparing to advance into the city of Raqqa, which is the ISIS stronghold in Syria, while pointed out that the Russian warplanes continue to bombard areas controlled by the opposition forces in northern Aleppo.

According to a report published by Reuters, the advance towards Raqqa will give the Syrian government a foothold in the province for the first time since 2014.

For its part, Russia continues its support for the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad and his regime as well as the air campaign againt the opposition forces north of Aleppo.
