Deir Ezzor (Syria News) The Syrian army announced, late on Thursday, that its troops have cut off the supply lines of the Islamic State group in Deir Ezzour, Qasioun News reported on Friday.

The news outlet revealed that the Syrian army troops managed to recapture Halabiya area, in northern Deir Ezzor from the Islamic State militants, and cut off their supply lines in the neighborhoods of the city.

Meanwhile, Russian military sources informed that the regime troops retook the neighborhoods of Baloom and Mdehi, located in the town of Mayadeen, backed by artillery shelling and air strikes on the Islamic State headquarters in the school of industry and Electricity Company in the city.

Furthermore, Russian warplanes carried out air strikes on neighborhoods of Ommal, Orfy, Sena’a, Hamidiya and Hawija, but no casualties were reported.

It is noteworthy that fierce battles are taking place in the city of Deir Ezzour and its countryside between the army forces and Islamic State militants.
