(IraqiNews) Local Turkish authorities announced, on Thursday, that three Turkish soldiers were killed in clashes near Iraq.

In a statement, the Governor of the Turkish province of Şırnak said that three soldiers were killed in  clashes with militants from Kurdistan Workers’ Party, southeast of the country, in an area near borders with Syria and Iraq.

He further added that the killed soldiers were assigned to the facilities of the national Turkish petroleum company (Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı – TPAO) near the town of Silopi.

The Governor explained that the clashes also resulted in the neutralization (killing, injury or captive) of three Kurdish militants, while pointed out that a drone earlier monitored militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which is considered a terrorit group by Ankara, in the same area.

It is noteworthy that the incident coincided with the ongoing Turkish offensive against the Kurdish militants in the different area of the country.
