Washington, DC (IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, US House Speaker John Boehner said that the United States may have no choice but to send ground troops to combat ISIS militants if the current strategy fails to defeat the extremist group.

Boehner stated Sunday on ABC, “that President Obama should not have promised that the United States would not send ground troops to fight ISIS.” He also added: “The US may end up with no choice but to send in American troops.”

“I think it’s gonna take more than airstrikes to drive them outta there,” said Boehner “We have no choice. These are barbarians. They intend to kill us. And if we don’t destroy them first, we’re gonna pay the price,” he said.

Noteworthy, President Obama promised not to send American troops to fight ISIS militants and said that he would like to rely on Iraqi forces, Kurdish fighters and moderate Syrian rebels for a ground campaign.
