(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Wednesday, U.S. Department of State announced, that the United States is working closely with the Iraqi authorities to obtain information about the kidnapped Americans in Iraq, while pointed out that that Iran is not involved in this issue.

The U.S. Department of State’s Spokesman John Kirby said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The United States is working closely with the Iraqi authorities and the American military officials based in Iraq to obtain more information about the three Americans and their location.”

Kirby added, “The U.S. Department of State did not contact the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif regarding this issue,” indicating that, “The issue is only limited to consultation with the Iraqi authorities to collect as much information as possible to resolve this crisis.”

The U.S. Department of State’s Spokesman said, “There are active Shiite militias in Iraq, but only some of them are under the Iranian influence,” pointing out that, “Washington had no reason to believe Tehran was involved in the kidnapping.”

Baghdad Operations Command stated on Monday, that the three people who hold the American citizenship were abducted from an apartment south of Baghdad, while pointed out that the security forces have taken the necessary measures to locate the kidnapped Americans.
