Abadi calls for reducing the salaries of all officials to achieve social solidarity

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi called on Saturday to reduce the salaries of all officials in the state to achieve social solidarity.

Abadi said in a speech during a memorial ceremony, followed by IraqiNews.com, “We call for the reduction of the salaries of all officials as in order to achieve a kind of social solidarity and experience the suffering of the people,” noting that, “the political system that we seek to build today should represent the people’s rights and interests . ”

Abadi suggested ” to open a fund to support efforts and volunteers that are fighting on the battlefields  and refusing to even receive salaries,” pointing out that, “some of the fighters are self-financing.”
